Merry Late Christmas, Happy Late New Year, Happy Late Everything...

I'm quite surprised with myself as to why I haven't updated this blog in three months. I'm having too much fun? I'm too busy? Or just pure laziness?

All three of them, actually.

I've been having too much fun for the past few months, going skiing almost every other week, going out with a lovely bunch of Australians and New Zealanders, not forgetting to mention a South African, Norwegian, and some Americans (who I met when I was working at the Winter GALA Orientation). Of course, I have my usual bunch of Koreans, "Japaneses", and my crazy bunch of Canadian roommates.

To sum up very quickly what I've been up to, I've had the privilege to celebrate Australia Day in Whistler with the Aussies and Kiwis, had a great weekend of skiing and partying.

I also went to Whistler and Grouse Mountain every now and then to improve on my skiing skills. I'm surprised with my learning curve, not being able to stop during my first time, to being able to do parallel turns by my second time! I'm beginning to wonder why I didn't start skiing earlier!

And, I've been to see a hockey game! Unfortunately, it wasn't the Canucks, but rather the Vancouver Giants (who are in the WHL). Considering it was free, I couldn't say no! The atmosphere was really, really amazing. I have so much fun just seeing the hockey players skating around the rink, crashing into the walls violently and throwing punches towards each other. It is now my intention to find a Canucks ticket and actually go see them before I head back to the UK!

In February, I had the pleasure to visit a high school friend, Woody, in Waterloo, ON for four days. It was great to see him again, especially in Canada! The last time I saw him was probably back in 2006, during one of those high school gatherings. More about my trip in my next post.

And then the week after that it was the midterms. I only had three midterms, but what was the most depressing was how they all took place after the reading week - meaning I had fun and then I had to study. I guess they weren't that bad, I've had two back and the results are relatively pleasing (no marks announced here!)

After that...(just checking my diary)...oh yes, work, work, work. Although I am fortunate in not having any individual assignments this semester, I have tons and tons of group work to do. For example, I am doing the Google AdWords project on Grouse Mountain; another project on Whistler Blackcomb (all related to snowsports!); another project on a web design company, and something else. I practically have meetings practically everyday, and it's driving me crazy. In fact, I can probably get enough exercise from walking all over the campus!

Yes! Now that I've caught up with myself, I can look forward to the following:

  • Paintballing with the Aussies, Kiwis, Americans, etc.

  • Hiking trip to Vancouver Island

  • Another trip to Seattle

  • Dog-sledding

  • Visiting the Vancouver International Autoshow

In the meantime, I have another case study to study...so until next time!
